This project is a collaboration between scenographer, performing artist and researcher YiLing Hung and me (BLENDING Collective). It was supported by the Taiwan National Arts and Culture Foundation.
In this performance, 9 different dishes drive a conversation about life experiences related to food, identity and diaspora. The Taiwanese ‘hot pot’ dish is used as metaphor for eating together as a process of co-creation and sharing life stories.
In the background - from below the table and behind the audience - a 30-minute soundscape of different rural places is playing. Blending into the conversation as a subtle rural atmosphere.
